Marco Anelli: Portraits in the Presence of Marina Abramovic
Endurance is central to the artistic credo of Marina Abramovic. Seated for over 700 hours, to face a stream of over 1500 visiting participants who sat across from her as long as they liked, she became the living centerpiece to her retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2010.
Marco Anelli engaged in a photography project with parallel stamina. He captured the portrait of every participant seated in Abramovic’s performance, noting the time that each spent in her company. Danziger Gallery’s Project Room is hosting the book launch and exhibition of a selection of photographs from the collection, opening this evening and running through October 27th.
Still wanting to see the documentary Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present.
Still wishing I were Marina Abramovic, Jenny Holzer, or Cindy Sherman.
The Artist is Present is AMAZING.
